RM of Lone Tree’s story
The Rural Municipality of Lone Tree No. 18 was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 8, 1913. It lies in the southwest part of Saskatchewan, southwest of Swift Current, right up against the United States border, with Montana's Blaine and Phillips counties on the other side.
The name comes from Lonetree Lake, whose signature tree was chopped down in 1918. The name was later rearranged to make Treelon, the name of a post office that served the municipality until 1945.
Today the villages of Bracken and Climax lie within the RM's boundaries, along with the localities of Canuck and Treelon. The RM office is in Climax.
